This is one of the largest pieces I have painted. It takes up a lot of room in my small studio. I wanted to play with patterns in this one. This is the first painting in my new series "Striped Socks"
I started with an underpainting or Grisaille in Burnt Umber and white. I put in the grey and blue wall as well at this point.

Ten Days of Teddy Bears
Challenges are always...well challenging! I did 30 days of hands last year, then 30 days of chickens in January. The chicken challenge was tough. I had originally chosen pears, but after doing one, I realized that I would probably be bored, not to mention the challenge of finding a variety of different pears during the winter months in Nova Scotia!

Hares done in ink and watercolor wash of Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna and Burnt Umber on my favorite Fabriano watercolor paper. All are 5 x 7 inches. The last one was scanned instead of photographed and I couldn't get the colors quite right. In real life they are all the same :)

Pastel Classes
The winter session is over, but not forgotten! My students were the most hard-working group...ever. I really pushed the class out of their comfort zone, but they rose to the occasion, and produced some amazing work.
I think the greatest compliment an instructor can get is when a student wants to sign up for the next session :)
